“Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.” – Brad Henry
Today would have been my grandma’s birthday, but unfortunately she passed away peacefully just over a year ago. This date made me think about all the wonderful times we spent together, Grandma would look after me in the school holidays and I used to stay over every Saturday night while my parents went to the cinema. I loved spending time with my Grandma, she was so soft with me and let me do whatever I wanted, I always left her house with pocketfuls of chocolate and after having multiple packets of crisps (she never believed me when I said I wasn’t hungry) and one of my favourite memories was getting the bus to Hessle road or town to spend my pocket money in the pound shop. Happy times.
This leads me to todays topic: family, in particular my wonderful parents whom I would like to dedicate this post to. My parents have always been there for me, helped me without me needing to ask, put up with my moody teenage years and are always great fun to be around. We’ve been to some amazing places together for which i am eternally grateful, especially for our second home which is Tenerife and we have many more adventures to come.
I wouldn’t be where I am today (literally and figuratively) without their love and support and dread the day when I don’t have my two best friends by my side. We make a fantastic team; cooking together, decorating/cleaning houses, organising surprises (Centreparcs 2013 has to be the best one yet) and having fab holidays. These two are great examples of a dream team and I fit in quite nicely, if I’m anything like my parents when I “grow up” I’ll be very happy.
Nothing is too much effort and they go above and beyond to do their best for me, I’ve never had to go without and know that if I’m ever in times of need I can rely on these two. Although I’ve lived away from home for the past 2 years I know that they’re only a FaceTime or phone call away even if it’s the middle of the night.
We’ve now got 1 more in the family with Andy who has been welcomed with open arms, so lovely to see how well he gets on with my parents and I love us all spending time together. Weekend trips to Hull are always fun and it’s great to catch up together and have some down time chilling during the holidays.
Some more photos to end this short but sweet blog post about my 2 best friends:
So to end this post i would like to say THANK YOU to my Mum and Dad for everything that they have done, continue to do and will do in the future for me. You two really are my best friends and I love you both soooo much xxxx
